jimsutton | I have working on my Used Prowler and the key bob will not open the doors so I went to a lock smith he could not program it and told me to take it to the dealer so I did and they told me they did not have the right equipment to program them they are after market so I am at a lost and not sure what to do any ideas ?? may be another dealer ship ?? |
dskatt | A few years ago I took my Prowler to the Dealer for some work. The tech accidentally locked my key in the car, so they programmed a fob that was on the shelf and used it to open the door. I'd try another Dealer. This message has been edited by dskatt on 05-18-2017 at 12:06 PM |
robin | Like Gary said go to another dealer if possible. Switch the battery first then go from there. I know if you read the link below it states you need one working fob to program a new one. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005482.html |
Drew | A real locksmith should be able to help you also, good luck. |
kriegsadmiral | They will try to tell you that it doesn't work. The Chevrolet Dealer has always told me "the aftermarket ones don't work" and they couldn't guarantee I wasn't wasting my money on the service and they would not guarantee. They worked everytime. I had a Prowler remote bought off ebay programmed at the dealer and two different GM remotes programmed. They always worked fine. The dealer wants you to pay double and get a Genuine FOB at the dealership. Go somewhere else |
Steve Conley | The programing instructions are in the repair manual. I did mine myself, but you have to be REALLY quick. And I'm not telling how many times it took. But I did get it programed. |
jimsutton | Steve were yours both after market or did you have one that came with the Prowler ??? they can copy the original one if you are adding some more ??? |
Steve Conley | Jim I had the original square style that came with the Kat. Then purchased another original rounded style. And programmed it. |
mslc10 | Follow instructions in OWNERS MANUAL. I went thru same deal and instructions in owners manual worked when nothing else would. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005482.html http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/023670.html This message has been edited by mslc10 on 05-20-2017 at 09:21 PM |
drbutton | I agree, just program it yourself. That's what I did. |
jimsutton | Up date Key bob won't work --- Been to 2 dealer ships and a Key / lock smith .no Luck Dealer told me that the BCM would not let him change any thing and might need a new BCM won't do that . so I will try this .. a street rod kit with its one control mod. and key bobs .. rewire with it and will see how it works next week .thanks for every ones help .. |
mslc10 | Take key FOB in question to auto zone where they have a test unit and test it to make sure it is transmitting , if so then it should just be a question of programming . I tried many ways but the owners manual instructions nailed it. But make sure it is transmitting first.... This message has been edited by mslc10 on 07-02-2017 at 10:10 PM |
jimsutton | Good news .. replaced the door locks alarm and key bobs with a Viper after market kit and works real nice ..and better than the OEM that came with the car . |
robin | Good to here Jim..
Glad you got that figured out.
